From one Yeti comes two

From one Yeti comes two – For the first time ever, the Czech compact-SUV will be available in two variants: as the elegant and stylish ŠKODA Yeti for the town, and an adventurous off-road ŠKODA Yeti. Both design variations of the ŠKODA Yeti feature a new front and rear, new alloy wheels, fresh interiors, new Simply Clever ideas, the highest functionality and extended engine/gear combinations. Both new models are to be unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September and by the end of 2013, both new ŠKODA Yeti variants will have been launched on the first markets.

“The ŠKODA Yeti is one of the most attractive compact SUVs on the market and has far exceeded our sales expectations since its launch four years ago,” says ŠKODA CEO Prof. Dr. h.c. Winfried Vahland. He continues, “With this all-new look and being offered for the first time in two variations, we are establishing new benchmarks. We plan to continue our outstanding development in this rapidly growing vehicle class. The Yeti is another cornerstone of the 2018 growth strategy and will strengthen our international position in the markets.”

Striking appearance – now in two variations

A special highlight is the first time offer of two individual design ranges: ŠKODA’s Compact SUV is now available in an elegant, stylish city look as well as an off-road look for trips in the country. A significant differentiation: the front and rear elements, such as bumpers, underride guard, side mouldings and door sills are either in the body colour or, as with the ŠKODA Yeti outdoor version, remain in black plastic.

The new fronts of both vehicles are now horizontally more accentuated and feature a distinctive grille and redesigned headlights, available as an option for the first time with Bi-Xenon headlights with integrated LED daytime running lights. In keeping with ŠKODA’s new design language, the front headlights are now rectangular and are now located further under the front bumpers.

The Yeti’s new rear has got a new layout. This includes a new form of tailgate with distinctive tail lights now in even more precise moulded C-Design, optionally available with LEDs, and, in line with the new ŠKODA look, two cubist triangular elements alongside the new ŠKODA logo.

The wheel program has been expanded with four newly designed, attractive alloy wheel designs. There is now a wider selection of colours available, including four new metallic finishes – ‘Moon-White’, ‘Jungle-Green’, ‘Metal-Grey’ and ‘Magnetic-Brown’. The latter is a Yeti L&K exclusive.

The new Yeti models have got an all-new fresh interior – with new 3-spoke steering wheels in seven variations, new fabrics and patterns for the seat covers as well as new decorative trims on the dashboard.

The first ŠKODA with rear-view camera

The Yeti is the brand’s first model with Optical Parking Assistant, an optional rear-view camera. This is the first time that the ŠKODA Yeti will feature the latest generation of the automatic parking assistant. The new system enables the Yeti to automatically reverse and parallel park and even pull out. The new ŠKODA Yeti features the automatic lock and start system ‘KESSY’ for the first time.

The revised ŠKODA Yeti has also received four new Simply Clever solutions. The double-sided floor covering in the boot is new. There is also a detachable LED light in the boot, the vest holder under the driver’s seat and the waste container in the side door of the Yeti.

One highlight is, and remains, the ŠKODA Yeti’s VarioFlex rear seat system, offering unique interior versatility. The three rear seats can be individually folded or removed. The outer seats can be shifted across with the middle seat removed. In an instant, the Yeti is transformed from a five to a four seater, making more space for the rear passengers.

There are also the carried-over features like the fold-down backrest of the passenger seat, folding tables on the backs of the front seats, various storage compartments and practical bottle holders. Functionality is a top priority in the boot, featuring among other things, fastening points and fold-down hooks.

Generous space is once again confirmed in the Yeti. In no other compact SUV do the rear passengers have as much headroom as in the ŠKODA Yeti – 1027 millimetres. The boot capacity is at least 405 litres. Taking all the rear seats out increases the volume to a fantastic 1,760 litres.

Seven modern engines; front and all-wheel drive, manual transmission and DSG

There is a selection of four diesel and three petrol engines for the all-new ŠKODA Yeti – all turbocharged and with direct injection. The performance spectrum ranges from the 1.2 TSI with 77 kW and 105 hp to the 2.0 TDI with 125 kW/170 hp. The fifth generation front or all-wheel drive with Haldex coupling is fitted depending on the engine specs. With an automatic transmission, the ŠKODA Yeti exclusively uses the modern six or seven-speed dual clutch transmission (DSG).

The GreenLine version 1.6 TDI/77kW, with front wheel drive and a manual gearbox, produces CO2 emissions of just 119 g/km. That corresponds to a consumption of 4.6 litres of diesel per 100 km (61 MPG). Additionally, there are threeGreen tec engine variants: the 1.4 TSI/90 kW, 2.0 TDI/103 kW with manual six-speed gearbox, and 1.6 TDI/77 kW with seven-speed DSG. The Green tec package includes the Start-Stop System, brake energy recovery (recuperation) and low rolling resistance tyres.

There is an even larger selection of engine/transmission combinations. The diesel engine 2.0 TDI with 125 kW is available with the fantastic combination of all-wheel drive and automatic six-speed dual clutch transmission. The front-wheel drive Yeti 1.6 TDI 77 kW is now to get an automatic seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.

Safety without compromise

The ŠKODA Yeti is uncompromised in terms of safety, for which the compact SUV received the maximum 5-star rating in the 2009 Euro NCAP Crashtest.

Active safety is increased through ESC (Electronic Stability Control) and ABS (Anti-lock Breaking System) with Break Assist. The front fog lights can be optionally equipped with Corner Function. New bi-xenon headlights with LED daytime running lights increase the visibility of the vehicle and the illumination of the road in the dark. Upon request, there are electronic assistants for up and down hill driving. Other options include the electronic tyre pressure monitoring system.

With electronically controlled all-wheel drive (fifth generation Haldex coupling), and a ground clearance of 180 mm, the compact SUV is ready for any terrain. The electronic differential lock EDL enables a smooth and comfortable start and grip on various road surfaces.

In terms of passive safety, the Yeti boasts up to nine airbags. Isofix points securely fasten child seats. Three-point seat belts in the front with belt tensioners and height adjustment and height-adjustable headrests complete the safety package.

ŠKODA YETI : UK PRICES AND SPECIFICATIONS ANNOUNCED

  • Facelifted Yeti range to start from £16,600 OTR
  • Two versions available: Yeti and Yeti Outdoor with new exterior design
  • Lowered CO2 outputs on selected models
  • New technology including fifth-generation Haldex Clutch 4×4
  • New equipment including reversing camera and latest generation Park Assist
  • UK deliveries to start January 2014

ŠKODA has announced prices and specifications for the facelifted Yeti. Following its public debut at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show, the facelifted version of ŠKODA’s multi-award-winning crossover hits UK showrooms in January, with order books opening this month.

Prices range from £16,600 OTR for the Yeti S 1.2 TSI 105PS, up to £27,050 for the range-topping Yeti Outdoor L&K 2.0 TDI 140PS 4×4 DSG.

Among the many updates to the range is the availability of two versions for the first time: Yeti and Yeti Outdoor. Reflecting the car’s broad appeal, the two versions feature different design features that allow owners to fully exploit the potential of the Yeti in their preferred driving environment.

As part of the refresh package, four engines now feature lower CO2 emissions, while new technology in the form of rear-view parking camera, bi-xenon lights with LED daytime running lights and KESSY keyless entry, start and exit system has been introduced to the range.

Four new metallic colours have also been added to the range: Moon White, Jungle Green, Metal Grey and Magnetic Brown.

Yeti – built for the urban jungle

Featuring smooth lines and body-coloured bumpers, sills and side strips, the Yeti appeals to buyers who demand the high driving position and visibility of an SUV, but don’t require off-road capability. Offered in front-wheel-drive form only, the Yeti is available in three trim grades: S, SE and Elegance, and comes with the options of three clean and efficient engines, including a frugal 1.6 TDI CR 105PS DPF GreenLine II unit that emits just 119g/km of CO2.

Yeti Outdoor – the start of a new adventure

The Yeti Outdoor delivers a noticeably more rugged look than the two-wheel-drive Yeti, with styling features designed to allow owners to get the most out of their car.

The bumpers incorporate steeper approach and departure angles to facilitate off-road use, while the use of black trim along the sides and lower elements of the bumper means that the Outdoor can take rough surfaces in its stride. With the option of a new fifth-generation Haldex Clutch four-wheel-drive system, the Yeti outdoor is available in four specification levels: S, SE, Elegance and L&K. The range includes two petrol engines and four diesels, with power outputs ranging from 105PS to 170PS. Transmission options include manual and DSG automatic gearboxes.

Arrives early 2014

The facelifted Yeti order book opens this month, with the first customer deliveries expected in January 2014.

ŠKODA YETI HONOURED AT GREEN APPLE AWARDS FOR THIRD YEAR IN A ROW

  • Crossover bestowed Silver in ‘Smaller SUV & 4×4’ category
  • 1.6 TDI CR 105PS DPF Elegance GreenLine II model recognised for impressive fuel economy and low emissions

Milton Keynes, 11 November 2013 – The ŠKODA Yeti has received a trophy at the 2013 Green Apple Awards for the third consecutive year. The crossover won Silver in the ‘Smaller SUV & 4×4’ category at the annual ceremony which took place today at the House of Commons in London. The prestigious event is run by the Green Organisation, an independent non-profit body which rewards environmental best practice.

Since the award was launched by the Midland Group of Motoring Writers, Yeti has won every year – Gold in 2011, Silver in 2012 and again in 2013. An impressive combined fuel economy of 61.4 mpg and low emissions of just 119 g/km CO2 secured Silver in 2013 for the ŠKODA Yeti 1.6 TDI CR 105PS DPF Elegance GreenLine II model.

The jury said: “The ŠKODA Yeti, one of the greenest vehicles in its class, has always stood out from the competition, hence it has been rewarded on every occasion since the beginning of the ‘Smaller SUV & 4×4’ category three years ago. The GreenLine II variant offers motorists a low carbon footprint and all-important affordability. Combined with a high level of fuel economy and versatility, this is a perfect example of what we look for in a vehicle of this type.“

Chris Horrell, Product Marketing Manager for ŠKODA UK, comments: “We are honoured that Yeti has won the Silver award and adds to what is a growing trophy cabinet for this model. The crossover has always been popular as it is an all-round green, versatile and economical vehicle. Therefore it’s no surprise that Yeti continues to impress the Green Apple judges year after year.

“The facelifted Yeti GreenLine II variants, which arrive in showrooms in January, will no doubt further reinforce its esteemed position as one of the most sought-after vehicles amongst crossover buyers.”

The ŠKODA Yeti 1.6 TDI CR 105PS DPF Elegance GreenLine II is available to purchase for £17,345 OTR.

FUR YETI FANS EVERYWHERE – THE ŠKODA YETI ICE SPECIAL EDITION

The Yeti Ice’s faux fur has numerous advantages over traditional paint, as its inventor, Dr Yu Ciddingme explains: “The fur is so thick and luxurious that during our tests in the arctic circle, our test drivers didn’t need to use the heater.”

The new model is based on the new Yeti and Yeti Outdoor launched in January and was developed under the code number 010414. All models will be built to order with owners able to choose from a number of personalisation options, including side-partings and fur extensions.

Owners will find that maintaining the Yeti Ice’s fur is easy thanks to standard specification that includes a lifetime supply of ŠKODA-branded shampoo and conditioner, a comb and brush kit to preserve the well-groomed look.

Head of Special Developments, Prof Lukat Thedate said: “Everybody loves the new furry finish. People like to give it a hug and a tickle under the bumper.”

For those who would find the Yeti Ice’s faux fur to be impractical, models with more traditional paintwork finishes are available in ŠKODA retailers across the country with prices starting from £16,600

ŠKODA REVEALS THAT YETI EXISTS

  • ŠKODA confirms more than 7,500 sightings of Yeti on roads across the UK in 2013 alone
  • First discovered in 2009, prompting motorists to find their own Yeti
  • Yeti offers rugged styling, high body strength and a raised ride height

Milton Keynes, 18 October 2013 – In response to findings from Oxford University surrounding the mystery as to the existence of the Yeti, ŠKODA has confirmed there have been more than 7,500 sightings on roads up and down the country during this year alone. The vehicle manufacturer has also found that every day motorists are looking to get their very own Yeti at 134 locations across the UK.

The Yeti has drawn considerable interest since it was first discovered by the British public in 2009. Furthermore, since it took its first big steps, it has been bestowed 15 awards by industry officials thanks to the crossover’s exceptional performance and practicality as it roams the city streets as well as its more native mountainous terrain.

Naveen Dayal, National Communications Manager for ŠKODA UK, comments: “The Yeti has always been at the centre of attention. It’s great to see that it’s once again making the headlines because of its unique looks and behaviour.

“We found that people have been infatuated by the Yeti over the last few years, and so much so that thousands now own one.”

Motorists have fallen for both the two and four-wheel drive variant of the Yeti which prides itself on its rugged styling, high body strength, and a raised ride height. This is in addition to the comprehensive list of standard equipment on the inside, which includes air conditioning and varioflex seating.

A slippery slope or winding road is no problem for the Yeti thanks to a choice of powerful and efficient petrol and diesel engines. The Yeti can cover up to 61.4 miles for every gallon of fuel used whilst emitting only 119g/CO2 for every kilometre that it travels thanks to Greenline II technology.

Prices start from £15,250 for individuals looking to get their hands on the Yeti and to discover for themselves what all the hype is about.

100 NOT OUT! ŠKODA YETI TRAVELS 100,000 MILES WITH 100% RELIABILITY

  • First ŠKODA Yeti customer completes 100,000 miles in just two years
  • Award-winning model boasts 100% reliability record

Milton Keynes, 22 October 2013 – Motorist Jamie Hyde has become the first customer in the UK to travel 100,000 miles in the award-winning ŠKODA Yeti crossover. Not only was the feat achieved in just two years, but the Yeti also maintained an impressive 100% reliability record.

Based in Merseyside, Mr Hyde, a Sales Manager, visits customers up and down the country, and regularly completes long distances to reach clients across the UK. Destinations span from the remote County Fermanagh in Northern Ireland to the bustling city streets of Birmingham, London and Manchester.

The journey across the length and breadth of the United Kingdom during the past 24 months, which culminated in a routine service at Mitchell ŠKODA in Chester, is the equivalent to travelling nearly half way to the moon or driving around the entire coastline of the British Isles nine times.

Jamie Hyde comments: “The ŠKODA Yeti has been a consistently reliable and trustworthy companion wherever I have needed to travel. In order to maintain our high level of customer service and punctuality, we are dependent on the trouble-free and low-cost motoring which the Yeti has always delivered. It has never let me down and I look forward to another 100,000 enjoyable miles.”

Owen Shepherd, Head of Aftersales for ŠKODA adds: “The Yeti is a vehicle which performs day in day out, no matter how hard the task. It strikes the perfect balance between on-road performance, practicality and highly capable off-roading.

“The ŠKODA Yeti remains one of the UK’s most popular crossovers and was recently named the country’s most satisfying car to own in the 2013 Auto Express Driver Power customer satisfaction survey.”

The new facelifted ŠKODA Yeti and Yeti Outdoor is available to order now, priced from £16,600 OTR.
