The 2014 Chrysler Town & Country minivan is celebrating the 30th anniversary of the minivan as one of the leading innovators in the segment created back in late 1983. New for 2014 is the Chrysler Town & Country 30th Anniversary Edition which features unique exterior and interior trim in addition to its already extensive list of standard equipment. The Town & Country S model continues on for 2014, bringing with it the modern design cues that tie in with Chrysler 200 S and 300 S models.
The Chrysler Group invented the modern minivan in 1983 with the Dodge Caravan and Plymouth Voyager. The first luxury minivan, the Chrysler Town & Country, debuted in 1989. Seventy-eight minivan-first innovations and 13 million minivan sales later, the company still leads the way with the best, most innovative vehicle to move people and things.
The 2014 Town & Country 30th Anniversary Edition is based on the Touring-L model and features unique exterior and interior content. Exterior features on the 30th Anniversary Edition include 17-inch aluminum wheels with polished faces and painted Satin Carbon pockets, “30th Anniversary” badge and the availability of Granite Crystal Pearl Coat paint.
The luxuriously appointed interior features black Alcantara seat inserts with Nappa seat bolsters, piano black steering wheel bezels and instrument panel trim, third-row power folding seats, power folding mirrors, a 30th Anniversary logo in the gauge cluster and touchscreen radio splash screen, a 30th Anniversary logo on the key fob and Light Graystone lower instrument panel, Super Center Console, door armrest stitching and door panels. The 2014 Town & Country 30th Anniversary Edition also comes standard with the Driver’s Convenience Group that features heated first- and second-row seating, a leather-wrapped heated steering wheel, power adjustable pedals, Keyless Enter-N-Go and bright door handles.
Available in unique Granite Crystal Pearl Coat paint, the Town & Country 30th Anniversary Edition is also available in Billet Silver Metallic Clear Coat, Bright White Clear Coat, Brilliant Black Crystal Pearl Coat, Cashmere Pearl Coat, Deep Cherry Red Pearl Coat or True Blue Pearl Coat.
Painted in Bright White Clear Coat, Brilliant Black Crystal Metallic Coat, Deep Cherry Red Pearl Coat or Billet Silver Metallic Coat, the 2014 Town & Country S gets revised trim that adds contrast to the minivan’s typically bright exterior treatment. A black chrome grille is combined with black-background Chrysler Winged badges front and rear, a black rear fascia step pad, “S” model badging, 17-inch aluminum wheels with polished face and black-painted pockets and blacked-out headlight bezels.
The interior features a monotone black interior unique to the Town & Country S. It starts with the Black Torino leather seats with an “S” logo embroidered in the seat backs and black Ballistic cloth seat inserts. The seats also feature grey stitching as do the door armrests. Piano black gloss appliques are found on the instrument panel and on the spokes of the black leather-wrapped steering wheel, and the Chrysler Winged badge on the wheel matches the black background-look of the exterior badging. Finishing interior touches include a black headliner and upper consoles, black center console and an “S” logo in the instrument cluster.
The segment-exclusive dual-screen Blu-Ray system with HDMI input, two USB recharging ports, a 12-volt outlet and a 115v two-prong outlet is standard. This system allows rear seat passengers to view standard and Blu-Ray DVDs or to play a high-definition video game system on the new, higher definition, screens. Wireless headphones allow back seat passengers to enjoy this state-of-the-art system without forcing front seat passengers to hear the accompanying audio.
The 2014 Town & Country S also features a performance suspension that adds an unexpected level of handling dynamics to the driving experience, yet still provides a comfortable ride that’s expected in a luxury minivan.
